We are relieved that this past week the Virginia Department of Health announced state vaccine guidelines will continue to align with the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics. As always at Pediatric Associates, we will continue to provide the safe and effective care that our community has counted on for over 50 years. Despite confusing messages, there has not been any recent data that would undermine the confidence in the current vaccine guidelines. Having VDH join the medical community in a consistent message means that school requirements are staying the same, and helps ensure that vaccines will remain available to all children within the Commonwealth. This is especially important as we are seeing vaccine preventable illnesses such as measles on the rise due to growing vaccine hesitancy.
