As of January 1, 2027 each family member will need to renew their application every 6 months in order to remain enrolled in the medicaid program. To stay covered, you must respond to official notices from the Department of Medical Assistance Services, Social Services, Cover Virginia, and your health plan. You risk losing coverage if the due date passes.  Additionally, the time period to gather documentation, apply and have your application processed has been shortened to 30 days so you must act immediately if you discover that your eligibility has lapsed.
