Dr. Newsome grew up in North Carolina.  She completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia, and her medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Following medical school she was awarded a research fellowship in the NICU at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.  Dr. Newsome then completed her pediatric residency through Authority Health at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, Michigan. Following residency she was thrilled to return to Charlottesville and join Pediatric Associates in 2020.

Dr. Newsome is uniquely trained to practice osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), which is a set of hands-on techniques that can be used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury by restoring function and relieving tension in the body.

Dr. Newsome and her four sons, Rush, William, Charlie, and Phillip, live in Nelson County. Outside of the office she enjoys exploring the outdoors, watching her boys play sports, and deescalating sibling disputes by proclaiming “brother’s first!”  As a family they attend Rockfish Presbyterian church.
