Better Asthma Treatment

If you have had a recent visit to our office, your digital registration questions may have asked if your child has asthma or uses an inhaler.  This prompt brings up a series of questions about asthma symptoms to put a number on how well your child’s asthma is being managed.  The good news is that asthma treatment has improved so much from the days when we only had short-acting albuterol to help kids who were wheezing.  The latest guidelines for older children emphasize the use of combination medicines that have a bronchodilator that works just as fast as albuterol but lasts longer and includes an anti-inflammatory steroid that keeps lungs healthier.  These combination inhalers keep asthma from holding children back from doing the things they love, and have been shown to be the best treatment for most patients.  If your child has not been switched from short-acting albuterol, send us a message or call for an asthma check-up today!
